I love this game. The only bad thing is that it has all this Christian shit in it. Can't enjoy anything without having religion shoved down our throats.

Gotta love games about chickens. I have a chicken themed Tetris style game that I'm trying to get published. I called it _Cock Block_ but Steam are being sensitive about the title.

The difference between you and Brackeys is like a mirror of the difference between the people of the USA and Europe. Brackeys is excited about the potential of Godot and is excited to walk this path to reach this potential, but you do not prefer Godot because it is currently inferior to Unity in terms of making money. But one day, when Godot becomes an engine that can make money (like blender), you will be one of the first to jump on the Godot ship. The USA and the system it imposes on its people is like a virus of this world.

I prefer C++ over blueprints and think that's definitely the better way to go if you're going to continue developing in the future, but you CAN do basically everything in blueprints.

I think Godot for 2D and Unreal for 3D is the way to go for indie/solo developers.

visual scripting is exactly like coding, the exception is its readability. IMHO it is deceptive. It is harder because it takes a lot of screen space and when the logic gets bigger (which happens quickly) it gets hard to understand and read.

The fact that people think about drama even in GameDev is interesting to me. It is clear that there is a huge clash between the objectives Brackeys and Thomas Brush address in their videos, and this reaction is the best example. If you want to try out things, make different demos all the time and do gamedev just for fun and passion, watch Brackeys. If you want to go all in on your gamedev passion, not leave it as a hobby and actually learn to run a business, watch Thomas. If you are not dumb, watch both. They are completing each other very well. Yes, it is important to have fun, experiment and embrace the direction of gamedev is going to with foss, because innovation can turn out well, but once you decide to go professional and do business, you will need to sacrifice some of that flexibility once you find a model that works and brings you money. I think all the hate that Thomas is getting and was getting over the time is thanks to the fact that his focus is to show the reality of following your passion, which in consequence brushes a lot of the pink out of the gamedev dream that for most of us stays a dream. Brackeys sees switching to Godot as a great new learning experience, while Thomas sees it as time that won't produce money. Where there is an experiment, Thomas sees the risks. It is really important to have this skill if you want to make it. I say it as a person that didn't buy any of his courses and probably never will (sorry bro), as someone who bought and played Pinstripe a little bit and didn't like it, as someone who will switch to Godot for various reasons, and, most importantly, as someone who, as many of the people I saw hating on him, wasn't able yet to put in the necessary work to become a professional indie gamedev. At the end of the day, if you want to reach a goal, learn from someone who achieved it. I want the commercial success that Thomas has AND I will profit off the fact that I am still at the beginning and have nothing to lose by experimenting with the trend of FOSS, no publisher and Godot. The distance that you see in Thomas towards Brackeys comes from the fact that a big part of his business includes content so clearly, as a business, he needs to highlight what makes him different from his biggest competitor now that Brackeys is back. The fact that you perceive it as ill intended and falseness shows that you don't have yet the ability to see things from a business perspective. Yes, Thomas is a bit arrogant at times but with his results in an indistry where statistically you are almost guaranteed to fail, who wouldn't be? Yes, he recycles his content too much but use it as an opportunity to get reminded of the valuable ideas that he told. And yes, I believe he will need to change the way he does things when it comes to publishers, content strategies and tools he uses, but with a business already in place he can't afford the risk to make the jump now, while the trend is still unsure if it set sails or not. So, if someone read this huge comment through, I hope you will learn the best from both Brackeys and Thomas and see the disadvantages that both angles bring.

man about playing games I still remember beating hollow knight and the ori series for the first time and it kinda made me sad knowing there's not really that many good metroidvanias (at least the ones I know) so I was like fuck it why not make one myself my real problem is trying to not directly copy off those games dx but we'll see eventually I guess

Krita says that it can export as a PSD which is Photoshops file base so when I get to texturing I hope it'll work. I also see a lot of different game devs using music DAWS to create sound effects since they have a lot of similar work features, so I gotta shoutout to Bandlabs Cakewalk, which used to be a paid program but is now a free one. It is literally comparable to FL Studio in terms of age, support, and plugins. LOTS of work can be done using that.

Why are some peole obsessed with publishersm what do they actually do? Recently Sony turned up with a really dumb idea for Hellduvers 2 and it took massive backlash to revert the requirement for PSN accounts which isnt even abailable in many countries.

This isn't going to be as easy for those with families, BUT... if you are single and a solo dev. Or even a small group of single guys/gals.... LEAVE THE WEST, if your goal is to work fulltime on your game. SE Asia is a good option. But for all things holy, do not stay in North America, or Western and northern Europe. Go somewhere, where your funds will stretch further and help remove financial stress.

I really like how the far objects have more blue color on them and the wkite-ish clouds of course, but I prefer a bigger variety in green color from the first example, so something in between editing looks best to me. The reason is that there are barely any clouds so it should be sunny, bet at the end it looks overcast.
